Gene Torrens - New Director
Gene Torrens to Direct the Sarpy Serenaders
The Sarpy Serenaders, the Sarpy County Chapter of the Barbershop Harmony Society, is proud to announce that they have hired Gene Torrens to be their new musical director. Torrens is a long time Nebraska music educator who taught in Iowa schools before teaching for 28 years at Elkhorn High School. As a music educator, Torrens received the Distinguished Service Award from the Nebraska Music Educators in 1999 and the NFHS Nebraska Outstanding Music Educator Award in 2004. He also directed the Chancel Choir at Faith Westwood United Church in Omaha for 30 years.
